Upmarket clothes store Aubin and Wills this week opened a shop offering cut-price designer clothes to South West customers within former Mulberry boss Roger Saul’s Kilver Court complex in Shepton Mallet
The shop is the first independent company to move into the historic centre, housed in a former mill, and on the same site as the Mulberry factory shop. It brings an added boost to Saul’s regeneration plans for the Mill and gardens and marks the end of phase one of a plan to invest £10 million to transform Kilver Court into the UK’s leading designer shopping experience.
As an added attraction, this weekend only, Saul is opening up extra rooms on site to host a massive two-day sale within the ‘Design Emporium’. Luxury names from Joseph to Rotary Watches, Duchamp and – Aubin and Wills younger brother, Jack Wills, promising reductions of up to 80%.
It’s the second ‘weekend grand’ sale he has organised, and entry costs £3. The first, at the end of July, attracted 3,000 visitors and attractions include 2 ‘pop-up’ restaurants in addition to the on-site organic cafe.
"Our overall vision is for a new retail experience bringing together the very best designer brands set in regenerated historic buildings, with end of line sales and last season one offs," said Mr Saul.
Over the next few years the development could create hundreds of jobs and bring millions of pounds into the local economy.
