The family and mediation team in the Bath office of national law firm Stone King will be offering free information sessions to people considering divorce as part of Family Mediation Week.
The awareness week, which runs from 20 to 24 January, is organised by the Family Mediators Association (FMA) and seeks to help separating couples take control of their situation and make decisions together, as well as ensuring that the views of children are heard. 
Bath-based Stone King family and mediation team senior associate Rebecca Eels was recently appointed to the FMA’s board.
The team’s head Tracey Smith, pictured, said: “Separating couples need to know that it can be possible to resolve things constructively with their partner, avoiding conflict to find the best way forward for them and their whole family.
“Our specialist team of mediators can help them through this process, enabling clients to co-operate with each other to negotiate and find ways forward, thereby lessening conflict at an emotionally draining time.
“We are offering free information sessions during Family Mediation Week that we hope will provide some clarity to aid people’s decision making at what can be a very difficult time.”
The work of Stone King’s family and mediation team was again recognised in the latest edition of respected legal publication Chambers.
It called the team “highly respected for its representation of clients in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, such as arbitration, mediation and collaborative law”, adding that it “regularly acts on private finance and children matters, and also has strength acting for clients on public children law cases”.
