The National Trust’s Bath properties have presented the prizes in a draw which celebrated the charity’s first ever Walking Festival – a nationwide campaign to encourage more people to venture outdoors.
The competition, which boasted an outdoor theme and prizes courtesy of sports footwear brand Hi-Tec, attracted no shortage of entries from visitors who are fond of the fresh air.
Among the winners was Jenny Rose from Bath, who landed second prize of a two-night stay at the National Trust’s luxurious Clutterbuck holiday apartment at Newark Park, near Wotton-under-Edge, South Gloucestershire.
National Trust Bath and South Cotswold general manager, Wendy Stott said: “Providing safe and beautiful outdoor spaces is a really important part of what the National Trust is about.
“All of our places in this area – Newark Park, Horton Court, Dyrham Park and Prior Park Landscape Garden – are ideal starting-points for some fantastic family walks.
“And it so happens that they’re all spread along the last 25 miles of the Cotswold Way, a hugely popular National Trail. So these places not only give local people the chance to get plenty of fresh air, stay fit and enjoy some of England’s finest scenery, but also provide a challenge for more seasoned walkers on their way to or from Bath.”
Staff from the properties recently celebrated the Cotswold Way connection with a three-day walk, stopping for pub lunches, cups of tea and to talk to visitors at each property, finishing at the National Trust shop next to Bath Abbey.
