Fundraising efforts including a sky dive for daring staff at Goughs Solicitors to an in-house bake-off for their more down-to-earth colleagues helped the firm net more than £3,000 for Julia’s House children’s hospice.
A number of dress-down days and a pub quiz also added to the total.
Julia’s House, which is dedicated to supporting the families of children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions across Wiltshire and Dorset, was chosen by Goughs Solicitors as its charity of the year as they share a number of local connections.
The charity has a children’s hospice in Devizes, where Goughs has one of its seven offices.
The firm, which also has bases in Chippenham, Trowbridge, Melksham and Corsham, has previously supported the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Wiltshire Mind, among others, as its charity of the year.
Goughs partner Emma Taylor, who oversees the firm’s charitable arm, said: “We were all in admiration of the work undertaken by Julia’s House in caring for children and families at a time when they need it the most and, therefore, really wanted to help them make a real difference to children across Wiltshire and Dorset.”
Goughs senior associate Natalie Kemp, who took part in the sky dive, added: “This was really the most amazing experience ever. I recommend it to everyone.
“It is brilliant to be part of a progressive and forward-thinking firm that allows us the freedom to get out and about in our communities to contribute to such worthy causes.”
Julia’s House relies on public donations, fundraising and legacies for around 92% of the money needed to keep running its vital services.
Goughs Solicitors, which was established in 1882, employs 100 people providing legal services for both individuals and businesses including divorce & separation, arrangements for children, employment, Wills, Trusts & Probate, commercial & residential property services and real estate & corporate services.
