From Brexit to wax it. Chase de Vere bosses fear hair-raising outcome of their own referendum

While many people are still reeling from the outcome of last week’s EU referendum, managers in the Bath office of national financial advice firm Chase de Vere are preparing for the potentially painful result of another vote.

The office has staged its own referendum with five male managers volunteering to be on the ballot paper. But instead of standing for office, the ‘winner’ faces the daunting challenge of having one of his legs waxed.

The vote is raising funds for Cancer Research UK, Chase de Vere’s company sponsored charity.

Staff members can vote as many times as they like by donating to Cancer Research UK. £1 gets them one vote £5 gets five votes and so on.

The secret ballot takes place on Monday and the following day all five managers will head to Bath’s Front Line Style beauty salon to hear the result. The manager with the most votes will then have the waxing.

The competing managers are advice team managers Andy Stevenson and Tom Birch, research team manager David Woodhouse, MI & data manager Mark Seall and operations manager Paul Viner.

Chase de Vere Bath office charity champion Bethany Huff-Guelbert said: “This initiative seems to have struck a chord with our employees, who really don’t seem to mind their managers suffering a little bit of pain – all for a very good cause of course.

“Tension is certainly building amongst our managers, and to encourage larger donations we’ve even allowed them to vote for the other managers – which they seem really keen to do”.

Front Line Style beauty salon is performing the leg waxing service for free to help support the fundraising efforts.
