Bath-based workspace design firm Interaction has developed a highly creative headquarters for innovative robot developer Reach as it prepares for further growth.
Interaction, which works with businesses in sectors spanning banking, finance and professional services to marketing, tech and engineering, worked with Bristol-based Reach to come up with a space that combines practical work and design with fun.
Standout aspects in the design of new office at Stoke Gifford, near Bristol Parkway, include bespoke laboratory areas, a tech-savvy social gaming area and section that showcases prototypes of Reach’s MekaMan range of robots.
Interaction designer Victoria Wright said: “The Reach Robotics team are creative and forward-thinking, and so we were keen to design a workplace that reflected this.
“We combined practical working areaas with more laid-back social spaces, finished off with creative touches – resulting in a modern space that provides the team with the ideal environment to research, design and thrive.”
Reach Robotics has grown rapidly since it was founded in 2013 by CEO Silas Adekunle, CTO Chris Beck and COO John Rees in Bristol’s SETsquared tech business accelerator.
Last year it secured $7.5m (£5.2m) funding from a group co-led by Korea Investment Partners and IGlobe to trigger further expansion while its MekaMon fighting robot range, which can be paired with smartphones to do battle in physical and augmented reality, went on sale in Apple’s UK stores last November.
As well as workshops and labs that cater for the Reach teams’ research and development team’s needs and the social and gaming areas, the new office also features a modern testing room with sliding doors, which can be closed for filming or privacy, and drying and bike-racks for those cycling to work.
