Bath-based Halsall Construction says it is now in the in the top echelon of its industry following a 23% increase in annual turnover to £33m.
The rise, for the year to the end of 2017, follows a 34% jump in turnover in 2016. The firm, based at Peasedown St John, also achieved a threefold increase in operating profit last year.
Halsall said its success had been driven by focussing specialist expertise on three core streams of work – residential contracting, education and care – all of which performed exceptionally well.
The firm also strengthened its operating structure during the year, with several key internal promotions. It is also investing heavily in employee development to support future growth.
Managing director Andy Corp said: “These results demonstrate another year of sustainable, profitable and controlled growth.
“Our increasing scale, reputation and financial strength is seeing us become a viable alternative to Tier 1 contractors across the South West.
“The dedication and hard work of our teams to ensure that we provide predictable outcomes for customers underpins both this year’s success and our future plans, which with a secured order book over £40m are already well on the way to becoming reality.”
The firm, which was launched in 1972 as a local builder, has grown into a major contractor across the South West. It opened a regional office in Exeter in 2016.
It is part of the Bath-based family-owned Shepperton Group, which started as a housebuilder before World War II and also includes Shepperton Homes and Shepperton Properties.
