Businesses will be able to debate the future of Bath and quiz some of its leading figures during the second Bath City Conference.

The free, drop in event, organised by Bath & North East Somerset Council, takes place next Wednesday (May 1) at the Guildhall between 2pm and 8pm.

The conference gives local people an opportunity to engage with each other and key organisations in the city by sharing information, debating the issues and future possibilities and learning from each other.

Alongside stands showcasing the work of local community groups, organisations and businesses, there will also be a series of workshops throughout the day on topics ranging from Community Rights, The Special Olympics, Setting up a Social Enterprise, Older People’s Issues, Transport, Leisure, Street Management and Economic Vibrancy.

Full details will be available in a published programme and next week and are already available on the Bath City Conference website www.bathcityconference.net

At 6.30pm, there will be an Ask the Panel event in the council chamber, chaired by Henry Brown, chairman of the Federation of Bath Residents’ Associations.

The panel members will be council leader Cllr Paul Crossley, council chief executive Dr Jo Farrar, Dr Ian Orpen, chair of the B&NES NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and Bath Business News founder and editor Robert Buckland.

This session will be streamed live on the council’s website at www.bathnes.gov.uk/webcast

This is an opportunity to put questions to some of the city’s most influential figures. Those who cannot attend the event itself can submit questions in advance or on the day by e-mailing them to bathcityconference@bathnes.gov.uk, or via Twitter @bathconf2013

There will be entertainment throughout the day, both in the Guildhall and City Centre from Performing Arts Students from the Bath Dance Academy.
