Bath Racecourse is breaking the mould at its Ladies’ Day later this month by challenging male racegoers to match their female counterparts for style.

The Lansdown course is urging them to dress to the nines to have a chance of winning its new Best Dressed Man prize.

A highlight of the Bath social calendar, Bath Racecourse’s annual Ladies’ Day – which this year takes place Saturday August 22 – attracts thousands of visitors with glitz and glamour the order of the day.

Women visitors will be able to compete for the traditional coveted Best Hat and Best Dressed Lady prizes – with, for the first time, the men being able to join in with their own best dressed prize.

Gates open at 3pm with the first of seven races starting at 5pm. Sponsored by Imagine Cruising and Holland America Line, it has already proved extremely popular with many of the hospitality, marquee and restaurant packages sold out.

Bath Racecourse executive director Jo Hall said: “Ladies’ Day is traditionally one of our most popular race meetings.

“The event is always very well attended and the ladies of Bath and the surrounding area certainly know how to impress. This year we are expecting the event to be even more glamourous and we are looking forward to seeing the menfolk also dressed in their finest. I’m sure we can give James Bond a run for his money.

“As well as the traditional racing we are also looking to add an extra maritime element to the day with themes and promotions being developed in conjunction with our kind sponsors Imagine Cruising and Holland America Line.”

Grandstand tickets are still available, as are tickets for the Fabulous Fillies and Hamper & Pamper packages.
