Bath law firm Stone King has set up a specialist health and safety team to help local businesses comply with fast-changing workplace legislation.
To mark the launch the firm is holding a special workshop on May 22 which will offer essential legal advice on this vital area of law. All businesses are welcome to attend.
The new team is headed by partner Andrew Banks and fellow lawyer David Milton. Both are members of the Health and Safety Lawyers’ Association and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
David said: “There are many myths surrounding health and safety legislation. But the reality is that the costs associated with injury or illness in the workplace can be substantial and potentially crippling for smaller businesses.
“It’s not just the direct costs following an accident such as potential fines or damage to equipment that businesses should consider. It’s also indirect costs, for example the cost of any additional staff or overtime, the likely increase in insurance premium and the possible damage to your firm's reputation and staff morale. The financial benefits of having an effective Health and Safety Management system are undeniable.
“We are willing to offer the local businesses that attend the workshop a free, no obligation audit of their existing Health and Safety Management system. We can also offer up-to-date advice to ensure compliance with the latest legislation. We can also advise on any investigations or prosecutions by the Health and Safety Executive or other prosecuting authorities.”
Stone King's Health and Safety law workshop will be held at 18 Queen Square, Bath, between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. To book a place go to www.stoneking.co.uk or phone Helen Ewart on 01225 324436.
