Independent spectacles and sunglasses retailer Ollie Quinn has acquired a retail unit in Bath to open its 12th UK outlet.
The London-based firm, which also has branches in Canada, has agreed an eight-year lease on a high-profile corner store in New Bond Street close to similar aspirational retailers such as Bobby Brown, L’Occitane and Space NK.
The unit was previously occupied by branded clothing and accessories retailer Route One, which has relocated to The Corridor.
Ollie Quinn has built a solid reputation since its launch in 2013 for side-stepping the traditional optical sales methods to remove the need for intermediaries and what it sees as unnecessary mark-ups.
It designs all frames in-house using high-quality materials and cuts prescription lenses itself. It only sells its frames via its own boutiques allowing it to offer premium and creative designs at affordable prices.
Ollie Quinn was advised by Bristol property agents Hartnell Taylor Cook (HTC), which recently acquired a unit on Bristol’s Park Street for the firm. It also has branches in Leeds and Brighton with more to follow as it continues to roll-out the brand across the UK from London backed by £3m from private equity investment manager Foresight Group.
HTC retail agency director Richard Saunders said: “Ollie Quinn’s range of own designer eyewear and sunglasses at a reasonable price point of £98 are the perfect fit for the Bath shopper.”
Ollie Quinn will trade on both ground and basement levels of the New Bond Street outlet, which will also provide healthcare.
Founder and director David Garrett said: “At Ollie Quinn we aim to make life easy for our customers. Our frames, our lens and our coatings are presented as one all-inclusive product offered at one affordable price. We are very excited to bring our product to Bath.”
