The owner of a luxury hotel group is looking for hoteliers and hospitality partners to join a new fundraising initiative for NHS staff and carers to give them much-deserved breaks once the Covid-19 crisis eases.
The care4carers appeal is the brainchild of Nick Dent, owner of the Original Collection group of hotels based at its Widbrook Grange Hotel in Bradford on Avon.
Nick has set up the crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to pay for the breaks at hotels across the country for NHS staff and carers.
Hoteliers taking part agree to top-up vouchers by 25% while Gift Aid adds a further 25%. So, the nation’s heroes will receive 50% more than if the gift were given directly – £150 for every £100 donated by UK taxpayers.
Hotel owners can decide how many vouchers they are willing to top up. Additionally, hospitality partners are also invited to donate experiences such as afternoon teas, meals out and spa experiences to the campaign.
The public is also being invited to donate to the crowdfunder campaign, with their funds used to buy vouchers redeemable at member hotels across the UK.
For every £100 donated to care4carers by a UK taxpayer, a voucher for £150 will be issued to a carer.
All seven of Original Collection’s properties, which include the Forss House Hotel in Caithness, Scotland, are involved, alongside an ever-growing selection of quality hotels from all over the country.
Nick, who is in the process of registering care4carers as a charity, said: “Our target is BIG. We’d love to get enough donations to treat every single frontline carer.
“By coming together as an industry, with the support of the public, the hospitality industry can reward as many heroes as possible. We have the opportunity to become THE way for the public to reward the nation’s heroes, and your hotel can be a part of this.”
