Bath City Farm has taken delivery of some much-needed building materials to create new animal pens, thanks to a donation from Bath commercial property firm HPH.
HPH arranged for the materials to be delivered to the charity with support from one of its tenants Westbury Building Supplies.
Westbury Building Supplies, which is based on HPH’s Woodlands Industrial Estate in Westbury, sourced the materials, including sand, cement and building blocks, and assisted with the delivery logistics.
The materials will be used to build new animal pens at the farm in Whiteway – making it easier for volunteers with mobility issues to help look after the animals and for visitors to view them.
Bath City Farm became HPH’s charity of the year in October. Since then HPH staff have staged fundraising activities and donated time to support it.
The farm has grown significantly since it started in 1990 and is now home to 100 animals that are looked after by 12 staff and more than 50 volunteers.
The charity has 15 projects based around horticulture, animal care and cookery, supporting disadvantaged and disabled people to develop new skills and confidence. It also works to boost emotional, mental, physical and social well-being.
HPH managing director Lindsay Holdoway said: “As a Bath-based company we aim to support the local community in a variety of ways, and this delivery to Bath City Farm will help the charity to continue its excellent work.
“We are very grateful to our tenants Westbury Building Supplies for donating their time to help with this project and we look forward to seeing the results over the coming months.”
City Farm general manager Helen Fisher added: “We would like to thank HPH and Westbury Building Supplies for all of their support. Having the backing of local businesses is really important and we’re delighted to have taken delivery of much needed building supplies to help us create new pens for the animals.”
HPH owns and operates a wide range of industrial, office and retail properties in and around Bath.
