A team from Bath-headquartered law firm Royds Withy King has built on its strong reputation in the care home sector by advising on a deal in Lancashire.
The firm has helped Leyland-based company Angel Residential Home on its acquisition of Lowfield House, pictured, a successful family-owned specialist 24-bed care home in Clitheroe.
The deal, financial details of which have not been disclosed, opens up a period of growth for Angel Residential Home, a business launched last year by Aqeel and Kiran Azeem, who also own the Angel Plus Homes group which bought a care home in Leyland six years ago.
Angel Residential Home’s mission is to deliver the highest standards of quality care and services in a homely atmosphere to people who find themselves in need of long or short term respite care.
Royds Withy King has a strong track record in advising care operators on the sale and acquisition of nursing and residential homes, having completed a number of deals across the country last year.
Its team on the Lowfield House deal was led by corporate senior associate Bharti Moore, supported by real estate specialist Dan Pinheiro and employment partner James Sage.
Bharti, pictured, said: “We are delighted to act on behalf of Angel Residential Home in this purchase to help them grow and expand. Aqeel and Kiran run an existing care home and have a lot of expertise to offer in the care sector.
“This deal demonstrates the firm’s expertise in merger and acquisition and our wider work in the care sectors, highlighting the support we can offer to businesses when dealing with mergers and acquisitions in often niche areas and tight timeframes.”
The deal was financed by Kent-based specialist care sector mortgage brokers Chandler and Co and Durham-based bank Atom.
Chandler and Co partner Steve Jenner said: “I have had the pleasure of working with Aqeel and Kiran on the purchase of both of their care homes since first meeting them in 2015.
“When I first met them their passion for the sector and determination to succeed were very evident.
“Their professionalism in all dealings makes them clients that it is a pleasure to deal with. The team at Royds Withy King have been exceptional in guiding and helping Aqeel and Kiran through the legal process in this purchase.
“I look forward to working on future acquisitions with them.”
Aqeel added: “I am very excited about this new venture. Being a registered nurse for the past 22 years and proprietor of a residential care home for the previous six years makes me confident about providing the best quality services in the health sector.
“I am grateful to Bharti Moore and the team at Royds Withy King for their outstanding services. I have found them very professional, always ready to help, and accessible.”
Royds Withy King, which employs 480 people across in its offices in Bath, Bristol, Swindon, Oxford and London, provides a wide range of legal services, from corporate and commercial to family and private client, across a number of key sectors.
