Lawyers from Bath-headquartered legal firm RWK Goodman have advised a longstanding care home client on the sale of its portfolio of four properties.

The homes – two in Patchway, Bristol, and two in Winterbourne, South Gloucestershire – together have a total of 183 beds and boast an excellent occupancy history.

They also have either ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Good’ CQC (Care Quality Commission) ratings.

RWK Goodman’s corporate and social care teams worked with the directors of family-run Grove Care on the disposal through a confidential sales process with property agents Christie.

The homes are The Grove, pictured, and Blossom Fields in Winterbourne and Olive Tree House and Rose Garden in Patchway.

Buyers UK-focused care home operator Allegra Care and Moorfield Group, a UK specialist real estate fund manager acting on behalf of Moorfield Real Estate Fund V (Moorfield), now own and operate 11 homes across Hampshire, Cambridge, Suffolk and South Gloucestershire.

The two aim to create an initial £125m portfolio of modern, fit-for-purpose nursing, dementia, and care homes across the UK.

RWK Goodman, which was formed earlier this year from the merger of Bath-headquartered Royds Withy King and London practice Goodman Derrick, has a strong reputation in the care home sector.

RWK Goodman corporate practice partner Hazel Phillips, pictured, who has a particular focus on health and social care, said: “I have had the privilege of working alongside the team at Grove Care for many years and it has been exciting to see them build a wonderful community of high-quality homes.

“We are thrilled to have been able to advise and guide them through the sale and look forwards to seeing Allegra Care take the business into its next stage.”

Hazel worked on the deal with real estate partner Paul Daniels, supported by associates Janetta White and Krysha Hunt. Associate Elizabeth Painter provided construction law advice.

Corporate finance advice was provided by Gloucestershire accountants Hazlewoods.

RWK Goodman, which employs more than 600 people, also has offices in Bristol, Swindon, Oxford and London.
