Bath-based workplace design company Interaction’s latest people-centric project for national law firm TLT has been described by the long-standing client as the “perfect space to allow clients and colleagues to collaborate”.

The office in Manchester, pictured, includes staff wellbeing and multifaith rooms as well as a coffee bar while also reflecting TLT’s approach sustainability.

The Bristol-headquartered law firm employs around 1,600 people across its seven UK offices – three of which Interaction designed.

Having decided to relocate its Manchester base to one of the UK’s most sustainable office buildings – the 12-storey Eden building in Salford – TLT again called on Interaction to create a cutting-edge workplace.

Promoting sustainable working and wellbeing among its 200-plus employees, the 20,000 sq ft space is designed to cater for different working styles and includes shared desks, solo and dual seating, group project rooms, noise isolating office pods, client meeting rooms and boardrooms.

With sustainability a key focus of the design project, the upholstery has been made from recycled leather and plastic bottles, desk frames and storage walls have been reused and the finishes include tiles locally made using recycled materials where possible.

TLT has taken over the top two floors of Eden, which features Europe’s biggest living façade with more than 350,00 plants, helping reduce air pollution and urban temperatures in the surrounding area.

The building also uses reclaimed lighting systems from former British factory buildings and RAF bases.

Meanwhile, TLT’s commitment to Manchester is reflected in locally produced artworks while office areas have been named The Buzz and The Hive, echoing the city’s iconic bee motif.

TLT partner and head of location in Manchester, James Chadwick, said feedback from everyone in the new office had been phenomenal.

“Eden provides the perfect space to allow clients and colleagues to collaborate, whilst blending time working from home with time working in the office,” he said.

“As ever, Interaction’s attention to detail has been perfect, with the project managed to the highest standard.”

Interaction creative lead Liesl Wherry, pictured, added: “We’re proud to have delivered this exciting new workplace for TLT in one of the UK’s greenest buildings.

“It showcases perfectly the firm’s people-centric values and its commitment to sustainability and employee wellbeing.”

Interaction, which became a B Corporation last year to reflect its commitment to people and planet as well as profit, has worked with a number of laws firms since it was founded in1992.

It recently designed a new state-of-the-art Bristol office for international legal practice Osborne Clarke, which occupies 74,000 sq ft office on the top five floors of the landmark Halo building – also one of the UK’s most sustainable office developments.

Outside of the legal sector, its recent projects in Bristol have included workplaces for international sustainable development and engineering consultancy Arup, fast-growing software development and digital services specialist Amdaris, cybersecurity firm Immersive Labs and FemTech business Elvie.
