I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here star Martin Roberts is urging businesses to support the Mayor of Bath’s charity concert in April as he prepares to host the event.

Property expert Martin – who also co-presents the BBC’s Homes Under the Hammer – was among the guests at a recent civic reception held by the Mayor of Bath Cllr Paul Crossley to launch his charity concert Sounds of the City, which will be held in the Pavilion on April 7.

Bath-based Martin’s charity The Martin Roberts Foundation is one of three that will benefit from the concert, along with The Mayor of Bath’s Relief Fund and GLL.

The Martin Roberts Foundation is setting up a community interest company (CIC) initially to allow it to raise funds to print and distribute Martin’s children’s book Sadsville to all eight and none olds in the UK.

In the longer term its objectives are to give charitable support for children and young people. GLL is a charitable social enterprise working locally to deliver leisure, health and community services. It runs sport and legacy development, health intervention and education, as well as being behind the GLL Sports Foundation, one of the largest independent support programmes for talented young athletes in the UK.

The Mayor of Bath’s Relief Fund supports Bath residents during hard times and is often the last resort for those who have already exhausted all other channels such as social security, social services and other local charities.

Mayor Paul Crossley said: “I am delighted to be working with the Pav and local musicians to put on a concert with a great line up of artists from the Bath area. It will be a great night.

“It is also fantastic to be working in partnership with Martin Roberts, who is also launching his new charitable foundation. So in addition to a night of music and dancing we hope to raise money to be helping vulnerable families and children in our city.”

Also supporting the event is former Mayor of Bath Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst MBE, who runs her own events business and is well known for supporting many charities. Loraine is coordinating all the administration for the concert

The Sounds of the Cityconcert is being organised by Bath-born soul singer Clyve, who is now based in New York. He will be joined by some of the city’s finest performers, including The Bellefleurs and Steve Robinson.

Clyve said: “It’s such an honour to be asked to perform at this amazing event and even more so, to raise money for some incredible charities.

“There are some exceptional talents in this city, which will always be my home, and the concert will be a very special event.

“Indeed, it is such a privilege to have been asked by the Mayor to perform at this very special event. A big thank-you to the Mayor for coming up with this unique idea.”

Tickets are available from Bath Box office - www.bathboxoffice.org.uk – for an early bird price of £10 each until March 1. After that they will be £12.50 each or £15 on the door.
