West of England Metro Mayor Tim Bowles is to reflect on his first six months in office and outline his vision for the future at a business breakfast later this month.
The event is being staged by accountancy firm Smith & Williamson and lawyers Michelmores at Bristol Zoo on October 20. 
Mayor Bowles, pictured, who was elected in May will provide an insight into his plans to allocate the £1bn budget devolved from the government to the West of England Combined Authority to help with infrastructure projects including new homes, transport and business growth.
The authority – led by the Metro Mayor – covers the Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire council areas.
Smith & Williamson Bristol office senior partner Mike Lea said: “This event will provide business owners, managers and those with a vested interest in the West of England a great opportunity to hear direct from one of the region’s most important elected public figures.
“With the national media reporting on the much-heralded Northern Power House, it’s vital the West of England punches above its weight when it comes to attracting investment and new business.
“It can only do that by a structured approach to capital expenditure that will benefit all across the region.”
He added that with the Severn Bridge tolls also being scrapped at the end of 2018, developing closer links with South East Wales was also becoming an important element of attracting businesses to the region.”
The breakfast is one of a series of quarterly events which will hear from leaders in the worlds of business, sport, government, education, entertainment and beyond, who are having an impact on the West of England.
