The Bath Priory has retained its Michelin star in the latest edition of the prestigious Michelin Guide 2016.
The hotel’s executive chef Sam Moody, who joined it in 2009, was first awarded a coveted Michelin star in 2013 aged just 28, and has retained it every year since.
Sam said: “We’re delighted to have retained our star – the Michelin guide is arguably the most prized of all accolades and to have held ours for over four years running is great. I’m so proud of our team here – they are a young and ambitious bunch who work so hard and this is a fantastic achievement.”
Sam began his career at Ockenden Manor Hotel, where he gained his first experience working in a Michelin-starred kitchen. He moved to The Bath Priory’s sister hotel Gidleigh Park in 2005, spending the next four years working under executive chef Michael Caines.
He moved The Bath Priory as a Sous Chef in 2009 and six months later had been promoted to head chef and then in 2012, to his current role as executive head chef.
The menu at The Bath Priory, part of the Andrew Brownsword Hotels group, offers a selection of modern British dishes using the best quality ingredients, including many from local producers and suppliers, as well as from its own kitchen garden. Seven and 10 course tasting menus are available from £90, or an a la carte menu is £80 for three courses.
Sam and fellow chefs from sister hotels across the Brownsword Hotels group will be hosting a unique lunch on October 1 at The Bath Priory as part of The Great Bath Feast.
