Regional law firm Mogers Drewett has signed a partnership with Visit Bath, the city’s destination marketing organisation, to support events at this year’s Bath Christmas Market.

Mogers Drewett, which has offices in Bath, Wells, Sherborne and Frome, will support family-friendly events linked to the market, including the lanterns and decorations made by primary schoolchildren from single-use plastic that will light up Abbeygate Street.

These lights will be officially switched on November 21 to coincide with the Bath Christmas Market residents’ evening. The market – widely regarded as among the best staged by a UK city - will open for business the following day and run until December 9.

Mogers Drewett, which was the headline sponsor of the market two years ago, will also support the family area and artisan market in Queen Square, which will take place on all three Saturdays of the wider market.

The sponsorship deal with the firm comes a week after Bath’s yet-to-open Hotel Indigo struck a three-year deal partnership to help promote the Christmas Market to a wider audience.

The hotel is aimed firmly at ‘curious travellers’ who are used to staying in high-end boutique accommodation and experiencing local events.

An estimated 409,000 people visited Bath’s Christmas Market last year, generating an additional spend of £29.4m across the city – the highest ever in the its 17-year history and a 40% increase on 2016.

The 200-plus stalls – 87% of them from Bath and the South West – earned a total of £10.7m over the 18 days of the market.

Visit Bath head of business development and partnerships Les Redwood said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Mogers Drewett for the Christmas Market and the support they are giving to some of the key elements of the event.

“Visit Bath is continually looking to engage with local businesses and enhance connections between them and the Bath community. This in turn helps us to promote the city to a local, regional and national audience”.

Mogers Drewett managing partner Steven Treharne added: “Bath Christmas Market has gone from strength to strength and has become a destination for people not just in the South West but right across the UK.

“We’re very proud to support this fantastic event which does so much to promote the city of Bath. Our relationships with our clients are often spread across several generations both for business and private needs, and for that reason, the specific events we’re supporting will be able to be enjoyed by adults and children alike.”
