Bath law firm Mogers Drewett is to sponsor the British pentathlon team up to and beyond the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
The firm will support the 20-strong Pentathlon GB team for two years through all competitions, including the forthcoming Modern Pentathlon European Championships Bath 2015.
Pentathlon GB is based at University of Bath’s Claverton Down campus which will host the Championships in August.
The campus is home to the £30m Sports Training Village, which has some of the best sporting facilities in the country. It hosts around 250 international-level athletes with 1.3m people visiting the facilities each year.
Mogers Drewett managing partner Steven Treharne said: “We are very proud of the city’s growing connections with international modern pentathlon and the team based at the University of Bath. We have high hopes for the team in this pre-Olympic season and in showing our support and commitment through this sponsorship deal we believe we are doing our bit to help them achieve even greater success.
“As a West Country-based firm we appreciate Pentathlon GB choosing the South West as its home and believe the presence of the entire performance squad helps further underline that the region is as much about sporting excellence, health and personal achievement as it is about heritage, tourism and industry. We will take great pride in seeing our logo associated with Pentathlon GB”.
Pentathlon GB CEO Nigel Laughton added: “We enjoy an excellent relationship with our home city and appreciate the support of both its people and business community.
“The sponsorship deal with Mogers Drewett will certainly help the team on the road to Rio 2016, including the critical qualifying event, the European Championships.”
Mogers Drewett employs just over 100 staff and 15 partners across its offices in Bath, Sherborne and Wells and a satellite office at Frome market.
