Mogers Drewett, the Bath-based law firm, has strengthened its links with Team Bath Netball by becoming its education partner.
The firm will fund Team Bath Netball’s school workshop programme while there are also plans to stage a corporate netball tournament with Team Bath Netball early next year to raise funds for a local charity.
Team Bath Netball members regularly visit Bath area schools to run education sessions covering healthy lifestyles, nutritional hints and tips, and to practice netball skills.
Mogers Drewett, which also has offices in Wells, Frome and Sherborne, already has strong links with Team Bath Netball. Captain and medal-winning England international netball defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers joined the firm earlier this year as a legal assistant and this month starts a trainee solicitor programme in its dispute resolution team. The firm is her main shirt sponsor.
Historically, Mogers Drewett has supported a number of sporting initiatives and organisations and for the past two years has been a key partner of the Pentathlon GB team.
Managing partner Steven Treharne said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer an education programme in partnership with Team Bath Netball.
“As a business we have a policy of funding local initiatives that promote active and healthy lifestyles within the communities in which we operate, and this project is a great example of how we do that in practice.
“Netball is a fun, inclusive sport that has a growing following and we are sure the education programmes will be popular with the schoolchildren.”
University of Bath deputy director of sport, Greg Sharp, added: “For Team Bath, taking a message about healthy lifestyles into schools is hugely important to us and we are delighted to team up with Mogers Drewett to achieve this.
“Our netballers are among the best in the world and we hope to inspire another generation through this initiative.”
