Law firm Goughs Solicitors has continued to grow its thriving commercial and residential property departments with four new arrivals.
Gemma Millard has joined as the long-established firm’s new head of commercial property following on from Helen Gate’s recent arrival as an associate in the same department.
Goughs has also welcomed two new recruits to its residential property department, paralegal Jessica Kissell and associate solicitor Samantha Elliott.
Gemma, who will be based at Goughs’ Greenways, Chippenham office, deals with all aspects of commercial property and will be responsible for further growing the team.
Gemma, pictured, top left, who has joined from Curtis Bank, where she was general counsel for 17-and-a-half years, will be working closely with Helen Gate, who has also recently joined the firm as an associate in the commercial property department.
Goughs said Helen, pictured, top right, who previously worked for law firm Clarke Willmott, the Government Legal Department and the Ministry of Defence in Bristol, had brought a wealth of commercial leasehold experience with the added advantage of having worked in-house and in private practice.
Goughs’ commercial property team advises individuals and companies locally and nationwide on commercial property issues ranging from freehold sales and acquisitions, property finance to landlord and tenant matters and business-related transactions.
It also advises on a diverse range of business types and in sectors including leisure, tourism, retail, food & drink and professional services.
Gemma said: “I am beyond excited to be joining a firm with such a well-established and pertinent presence in the local area, which is continuing to grow.
“I have been very impressed at the organisation, structure and client care that both the team and firm have to offer.
“I am looking forward to working with Helen and the team and helping to further expand the reach of the commercial property team across the South West.”
Samantha, pictured, bottom left, who has joined as an associate solicitor in Goughs’ Trowbridge office, specialises in all residential property matters including sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold, various deeds and agreement drafting, remortgages, auction sales and purchases. She has worked for a number of law firms across Wiltshire.
Jessica, pictured, bottom right, has joined as a residential property paralegal in Goughs’ Devizes office, working alongside Harriet Pestille, who recently qualified as a solicitor into the team.
Goughs head of residential property Lesley Warren said: "We are delighted to welcome Samantha and Jessica. Their knowledge combined with Jessica's enthusiasm and appetite to learn will only strengthen our team as we move forward with plans to grow further in 2024 and beyond."
Goughs HR director Victoria Nash added: “The incredible work of our property team is reflected in our recruitment.
“Simply put, the amount of work that the team continues to generate, has led to the department’s expansion.”
Established in 1882, Goughs provides legal services for individuals and businesses including divorce & separation, arrangements for children, employment, Wills, Trusts & Probate, commercial & residential property services and real estate & corporate services.
The firm employs more than 100 people across seven locations in Wiltshire, which include offices in Chippenham, Trowbridge and Melksham.
