Wincanton, the Chippenham-based supply chain and logistics group, has secured a multi-million pound agreement with DIY chain B&Q which includes managing its 1m sq ft showroom fulfilment centre.
The massive Burton-on-Trent centre houses B&Q’s kitchen, bathroom and bedroom ranges. Under the new contract Wincanton will handle around 9m cases of merchandise a year.
Under a previously announced contract, Wincanton will also plan all transport routes for B&Q, using its specialist multi-channel expertise to fulfil approximately half a million customer orders across the UK.
Additionally, Wincanton is working with B&Q’s container business under a contract announced in May.
Wincanton chief executive Eric Born said: “We are delighted to be extending our long-term relationship with B&Q, which further demonstrates our ability to support the retail sector and evolve our proposition to suit the needs of modern retailing.
“As the high street continues to evolve, embracing mobile commerce to 'click-and-collect' ordering, we will continue to ensure that Wincanton is at the forefront, innovating and developing our proposition to meet the exacting demands of our customer base.”
