Two projects by Bath-based built environment planning and design practice Nash Partnership have been shortlisted for the national Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence.

The St Paul’s scheme in Cheltenham, pictured right, a consultation-led masterplan for Cheltenham Borough Homes, is a finalist in the ‘Exemplary Planning to Deliver Housing’ category. The project involved forming a partnership between Cheltenham Borough Homes, Cheltenham Borough Council, local residents, police, other stakeholders and Nash Partnership to regenerate the area by renovating existing housing and building 48 exemplar new homes and community facilities.

Nash’s new campus for Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Solutions on the outskirts of Trowbridge, pictured below, which includes an 18,000 sq ft office, is a finalist in the ‘Outstanding Planning to Deliver Growth and Employment’ category.

Nash provided planning and design services and has worked closely with Midas to develop the office building, vehicle preparation centre and fleet storage.  The project demonstrates the positive role that planning has to play in enabling growth through helping to support the retention and creation of jobs and apprenticeship opportunities at the site.

Winners in each award category will be announced at a ceremony in London on June 23.

Both projects have also been shortlisted for RTPI SW Awards for Planning Excellence.

The annual RTPI Awards highlight exceptional examples of planning and celebrate the contribution that planners and planning make to society, inspiring others to achieve the same high standards. Projects on the shortlist have been recognised for their national contribution to planning and demonstrate how significant schemes can be delivered speedily through the planning and other consents systems.

Nash, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, employs more than 30 staff in architecture, conservation, planning, masterplanning, urban design, landscape architecture and special project expertise in its offices in Bath and Bristol. It works with private and public sector clients throughout the UK and in China.
