Hotel Indigo Bath, the boutique hotel due to open next year, has become an official business partner of Bath Racecourse in a deal that runs to December 2018.
The partnership includes a named race on next year’s Ladies Day in 2018 and a ‘best dressed’ contest at the meeting where the winner will be treated to an overnight stay at the 166-room prestige hotel.
St James’s Hotel Group will open Hotel Indigo Bath under a franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
It is being developed from the former Pratt’s Hotel and The Halcyon and Circo nightclub in Grade I listed Georgian buildings on South Parade.
Its 166 rooms will be individually designed to reflect the influences of the architects and novelists who made Bath famous.
The hotel will also include a gym, private members’ club and The Private House, which will feature a meeting room and private dining suite for up to 10 guests with eight adjoining guest-rooms.
Hotel Indigo Bath general manager Simon Hall said: “Bath Racecourse is one of the region’s leading leisure and visitor attractions, attracting thousands of visitors each year, not just for races but for business meetings, events and weddings too.
“This is a great opportunity for us to get the Hotel Indigo Bath name out there ahead of opening next year and we are thrilled to be involved with this prestigious Bath event.
“Hotel Indigo Bath is set to be an outrageously stylish, boutique hotel showcasing the best of Bath through its design, so it naturally made sense to be involved with Ladies Day, an impressive and stand-out day when the finest fashion takes over the city.”
Bath Racecourse, owned by the UK’s largest racecourse operator Arena Racing Company (ARC), completed a multi-million pound redevelopment last year which includes a new three-storey grandstand and a hospitality stand.
The redevelopment aims to substantially increase the course’s income from corporate gatherings, weddings and other events on non-racedays while also boosting attendances at its racing fixtures, which this year increased from 22 to 23 with the addition of a Good Friday meeting.
Bath Racecourse executive director Jo Hall added: “We are delighted to welcome Hotel Indigo Bath as an official business partner to the racecourse. There are great synergies between the two brands and we look forward to working together to provide an exceptional offering to visitors of the racecourse and Bath area.
“Bath Racecourse prides itself on its heritage and charm and we’re excited to provide an option for visitors to extend the luxury experience beyond the racecourse during their visit.”
The racecourse's next fixtures are the Gentleman’s Day on September 16 and Family Fun Day on September 17.
