Bath Building Society has appointed Ash Kassam as its chief finance officer five months after he took on the role on an interim basis.

Ash, pictured, has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services.

He joined Bath Building Society in March from Harpenden Building Society, where had worked for nearly one-and-a-half years as finance director.

He started his career as an accountant and has worked for Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, RBS & Credit Suisse.

He then moved into retail banking with Lloyds Bank, where he was finance director for treasury.

He moved to Harpenden Building Society in 2021 after having spent most of his career in the City.

Bath Building Society’s previous chief finance officer Richard Ingle was appointed as its chief executive at the beginning of this year.

He said: “We are delighted that Ash has agreed to join us on a permanent basis.

“His values and vision are very much aligned with the society’s ambition to deliver a highly sustainable society that supports members financial resilience. Ash’s experience and values will strengthen the executive team.

Ash said: “I’m looking forward to playing my part in supporting the Society to deliver the next period of strategic growth.

“The purpose-led, innovative and forward-thinking strategy is ambitious and challenging, and builds on the society’s 120 years of personal service delivery.

“This next phase of development will ensure the Society remains relevant for its members, colleagues and communities into the future.

Bath Building Society, which was established in 1904 to offer savings and mortgages to the local community, has also recently strengthened its executive team with the promotion of Craig Brown, pictured centre, to chief mortgage officer and Emma Davis, pictured above, to chief customer officer.

Craig was previously head of underwriting at the society while Emma joined earlier this year as head of savings operations.

The society employs more than 75 staff in its Queen Square head office and two branches in the city.
