Aer Studios, the creative technology firm based near Bath, has made four key appointments, including a new head of technology.
James Hobbs brings a wealth of experience to the role from working at household appliance innovator Dyson and digital product design agency Great State.
Also recently joining Box-based Aer Studios is a trio of practice leads, including Max Waring (front end), Jon Chard (back end), and Aaron Bushell (dev ops).
Their appointment comes shortly after Aer Studios strengthened its leadership team with the arrival of Lucy Rees as head of people and culture.
The strategic hires mark a significant step in Aer Studios’ growth, as well as its commitment to excellence and innovation in the creative technology sector.
The firm describes itself as being on a mission is to create meaningful digital experiences that have a positive impact on people and planet.
Its partners with leading brands in the public and private sectors and has clients ranging from Warner Media, Cartoon Network and the BBC to Dogs Trust, Diabetes UK and Gov.UK.
Last year it became one of only seven agencies to win a coveted place on the BBC’s digital design roster following a hotly contested pitch involving many of the world’s best user UX (user experience) and design agencies.
It also won a prestigious BIMA Award in the Innovative App category last October for its groundbreaking immersive experience workplace e-training tool called The Data Escape Room.
James Hobbs, pictured, above right, with Aer Studios managing director Tom Harber, spent six years at Dyson where, as digital development lead, he successfully helmed the global digital technical team from its inception to more than 20 members.
At London-based Great State, he was instrumental in driving the company's technology strategy, leading an engineering team delivering multi-award-winning work.
In addition to his career achievements, James has been recognised in the BIMA 100 for Sustainability, underlining his commitment to sustainable practices.
Aer Studios said this aligned with its certification as a B Corp and its ongoing efforts to prioritise sustainability in all aspects of its operations.
Aer Studios managing director Tom Harber said James’ experience and values fitted perfectly with the firm’s ambitions.
“With James on board, we're excited to amplify our efforts and lead the charge in transforming the tech industry into a beacon of sustainability for the future,” he added.
James said: “It was immediately clear from my initial conversations with Lucy and Tom that Aer Studios have a deep focus on people and planet, both of which are really important to me, alongside delivering outstanding work for clients.”
