Expanding Bath communications firm Grapevine Telecom has recruited Liam Toms as its new marketing manager.
Liam, pictured, joins Grapevine, which acts as a mobile phone and data account manager for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), having previously worked with the firm in his role as business engagement consultant at Bournemouth University during which he facilitated a number of collaborative projects.
He will divide his time between Grapevine’s office on Bath Business Park and the company’s base in Poole.
Grapevine managing director Pete Boby said: “We already have a fantastic working relationship with Liam and so we’re delighted that he has joined us as our new marketing manager. He has invaluable skills in marketing communications to contribute to the future development of our business.”
Liam will continue to work with Bournemouth University in addition to his new position at Grapevine. He was responsible for setting up a consultancy arm on behalf of the university which has had success with projects for clients such as Channel 4, ITV, Samsung and Toyota, as well as a wide range of SMEs.
He holds a BA honours degree from the university in Advertising and Marketing Communications and is among the growing number of graduates opting to build their career outside London as South West digital economies such as Bristol and Bournemouth provide a viable alternative.
Liam runs an independent record label in his spare time, licensing releases from major labels such as Warner Music Group and Sony Music for limited edition vinyl pressings, as well as working directly with artists on new releases.
Grapevine has been actively engaged with the higher education sector for more than 10 years, having enrolled in the Government’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme which funded the employment of the company’s first marketing manager Paul Lappage.
