Monahans Financial Services, the independent financial advice arm of West accountancy group Monahans, has appointed Simon Ewings as its new managing director.
Simon joined the company in 2011 as a director and has already had a significant impact on the firm, helping to prepare it for major changes introduced by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the way financial advice firms operate.
Chairman Harry Hilliard said: “The financial services industry is going through a period of huge change which will throw up great opportunities for us.
“Simon has the ideal combination of technical knowledge and strategic skills to meet the challenges ahead while continuing to develop the levels of client service for which the firm is renowned.”
He said the changes would also allow previous managing director Steve Missen to concentrate on advising clients on the best ways of meeting their financial objectives.
Trowbridge-based Monahans Financial Services is already ahead of the game in meeting the new FSA requirements having introduced a clear charging structure, client service agreements and advisers who meet all professional requirements in January 2009.
This resulted in the firm, which also has offices in Bath, Chippenham, Swindon and Glastonbury, being one of the first in the country to be awarded chartered status, reflecting the quality of advice provide, and a business which has been growing strongly over the last few years.
Simon added: “I am delighted with this new appointment and am really looking forward to working to ensure our clients enjoy the very best in service standards and quality of advice. We are already managing more than £100m pounds of assets on behalf of our clients and expect this to grow significantly as our reputation continues to grow.”
The firm was established more than 25 years ago and become part of The Monahans Group in 1999.
Clients include private individuals, sole traders, partnerships and limited companies throughout the UK as well as within the expatriate market.
