Bath law firm Mogers Drewett is to strengthen its dispute resolution team with the appointment next month of new partner Luke Watson.
Luke, pictured, specialises in property and commercial litigation and has developed a niche practice in disputed wills, trusts and estates. He joins from Bath law firm Mowbray Woodwards, where he has worked for 13 years and was a partner and head of dispute resolution.
Mogers Drewett managing partner Steven Treharne said: “We are pleased to welcome Luke to the team. His commitment to providing clients with practical, objective advice throughout mediation, arbitration and court proceedings is a good fit with our own ethos.
“Commercial disputes are often expensive and can harm a company’s reputation. Luke’s experience allows him to consider the commercial and financial reality of any dispute situation and explore all forms of alternative dispute resolution in the best interest of the client, often without the need to go to court. His skills and expertise will add further strength and depth to our thriving dispute team.”
In addition to his new role at Mogers Drewett – which also has offices in Frome, Wells and Sherborne – Luke regularly conducts seminars with other professional lawyers and is a member of the Bristol Law Society, the Law Society’s Civil Litigation Section, a full member of ACTAPS (Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists) and a member of the Property Litigation Association.
Luke worked in the City of London for a Legal 500 firm and the West End of London for a niche insurance practice as a trainee and newly qualified solicitor before taking a sabbatical to venture overseas. On his return to the UK, he initially worked for Somerset law firm Pardoes before joining Mowbray Woodwards in Bath in 2003.
