Monahans, the South West’s largest independent accountancy firm, has promoted Stephanie Hurst to tax director for corporate tax consultancy and personal tax compliance.
Stephanie, pictured, joined the firm, which has eight offices including in Bath, Trowbridge and Chippenham, as corporate tax manager in 2014.
She quickly became an integral member of the company’s tax division and now has more than 15 years’ practice experience with a wealth of specialist knowledge and vital management experience.
In her new role as tax director, Stephanie, who is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, will spearhead the corporate tax function, with an overarching management role across all the business’s tax departments.
She will also play a critical part in ensuring that Monahans and its clients are well prepared for any significant operational tax changes that may occur soon, such as Making Tax Digital, the corporation tax rise due next April and further changes that may occur with any government shifts in taxation policy.
Monahans has also welcomed back Becky Young to the team as senior client portfolio manager.
Before starting a business of her own in 2018, Becky, pictured below with Monahans managing partner Simon Tombs, worked for Monahans as a client portfolio manager for 12 years.
Now, having built up a strong local and regional professional reputation, Becky has re-joined the team at a more senior level with greater managerial and business knowledge and an enviable client list.
Simon Tombs said: “Stephanie is an integral part of the Monahans tax team.
“Her knowledge is second to none, she builds incredible rapport with her clients, and she is an accomplished tax adviser.
“I am excited to see how she steers the tax division and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
“I am also incredibly enthused to welcome Becky back to the Monahans family.
“I was sad to see her go back in 2018, but she returns with wider experience, invaluable knowledge and skills that only running your own small business will teach and that will help Monahans build on its recent successes.”
Stephanie added: “It’s a very exciting time for Monahans and I am really pleased to be on this journey with the firm.
“To be recognised as a director is very rewarding and I look forward to being an integral part of Monahans future.”
Monahans offers a range of specialised services that include corporate finance, audit, tax consultancy, business recovery and insolvency, digital cloud accounting, elite payroll, HR services and probate.
In April the firm unveiled a full rebrand to mark its next growth phase in which it aims to grow by at least a further 10%.
