Stone King, the national law firm with its headquarters in Bath, has appointed top-ranked charity lawyer Rosamund McCarthy Etherington as an equity partner.
Rosamund, pictured, has joined Stone King, which is a national leader in charity law, after more than 30 years at London law firm Bates Wells.
Her arrival strengthens Stone King’s team of more than 50 charity lawyers.
Rosamund is included in the Legal 500 directory’s ‘Hall of Fame’ category and top ranked by Chambers and Partners, in which she is described as “a brilliant lawyer who is highly personable and one of the leading experts on charity law” and “committed to the ethos of the sector”.
Head of Stone King’s charity team Stephen Ravenscroft said: “We are extremely pleased that Rosamund has chosen to join our team.
“She has a vast wealth of sector experience, knowledge and skill and we look forward immensely to working with her.”
Stone King managing partner Steven Greenwood added: “Rosamund is a leader in her field as well as being committed to supporting the charity sector and all that it stands for, which is what makes her a perfect fit for Stone King.
“Her values chime with our own so we are very excited for her to join the firm.”
Rosamund’s areas of expertise include charity registrations, philanthropy and international foundations; governance and board reviews; advice on campaigning, political and electoral activities; fundraising advice and agreements and charity mergers. She also has significant experience of advising on Charity Commission investigations, reviews and regulatory compliance.
Alongside her professional commitment to the sector, Rosamund was the founder and first chair of Poet in the City and has worked in a professional capacity as a director or trustee of numerous organisations and councils, including the Small Charities Coalition, Free Word, the Friend Publications, Citizens UK and the Samuel Johnson Non-Fiction Prize Limited.
She said: “It has always been a great privilege to support the incredible work of charities, trustees and philanthropists both nationally and internationally.
“I’m excited to continue assisting not-for-profit organisations to grow and thrive in what are very challenging times, alongside my new colleagues at Stone King.”
