MasterChef winner-turned-judge Ping Coombes will be appearing at a one-night-only pop-up restaurant event at The Roman Baths Kitchen next month.
At the event – called Go Bananas and which takes place on May 25 – Ping will be taking inspiration from her book Malaysia to showcase new Malaysian dishes and a new way to eat. The informal evening will be as much about the eating experience as it is about the food itself and follows the growing trend for one-off catered events in unusual settings.
Bath-based Ping, pictured, said: “I am so excited to host this new pop-up concept at The Roman Baths Kitchen and showcase some exciting new Malaysian dishes and a new way to eat.”
The event is being organised by event caterer Searcys, which has contracts with Bath historic venues such as the Roman Baths, Pump Room and Assembly Rooms.
Its Bath general manager Graham Plumb said: “Eating out in Bath has never been more exciting. We are keen to break the mould and do the unexpected, which is why we are launching our first pop-up restaurant event with Ping Coombes.
“The pop-up event will appeal to both adventurous foodies and those that like good food simply cooked. The idea is to provide inspiration and get people to have the confidence just to try something different.”
On arrival, there will be nibbles at the bar and a welcome drink before guests start their culinary adventure. A selection of drinks will be available to buy throughout the event.
The three-course dinner menu is £48 per person and bookings can be made at www.designmynight.com/bath/whats-on/food-drink/taste-of-malaysia-with-ping-coombes-at-the-roman-bath-kitchens?t=tickets
