Two Bath hotels are to compete against the best in the country in an awards scheme that celebrates tourism businesses across England that have delivered excellence during the past year.
The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa and No 15 by GuestHouse Bath have been shortlisted in VisitEngland’s Awards for Excellence.
The Royal Crescent will compete against The Langham in London and Hotel Indigo Durham, County Durham, in the Large Hotel of the Year category while No 15 by GuestHouse Bath is in the running for the Small Hotel of the Year award along with Seaham Hall, County Durham, and The Idle Rocks, Cornwall.
Both Bath hotels are guaranteed an award as all shortlisted contenders will come away from the ceremony in Birmingham on 8 June with either Gold, Silver or Bronze.
Neither is a stranger to winning awards this year. No.15 by GuestHouse, Bath, the 37-bedroom boutique townhouse hotel on Great Pulteney Street, pictured right, landed a Gold, a Silver and a Bronze in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards in February while The Royal Crescent, pictured below, which won a Gold at the same event also topped the Best Social Media Campaign category at the annual HMA Hotel Marketing Awards.
Applications to the nationally recognised VisitEngland awards were put forward for judging from businesses across the country and went through a rigorous judging process by handpicked tourism industry experts.
The hotels were congratulated by Kathryn Davis, director of tourism at Visit West, the destination marketing organisation that takes in Visit Bath.
She said: “We are absolutely thrilled for the teams at the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa and No.15 by GuestHouse, Bath, who thoroughly deserve to be named in the top three hotels in their category for these prestigious national awards.
“They have already achieved so much in the local and regional awards and so we will be cheering them on when the winners are announced on 8 June.”
No. 15 By Guesthouse Bath general manager Guillaume Lesage said: “I am so delighted for the team at No.15 by GuestHouse, it has been an amazing few weeks of trophies and nominations.
“Being finalist in the VisitEngland excellence award is true recognition of their hard work and the fantastic delivery of our service ethos.”
VisitEngland chief executive Patricia Yates added: “Millions of jobs and local economies depend on tourism and this year’s awards are also a timely opportunity to acknowledge the determination and dedication of tourism businesses as they rebuild and continue to champion best practice and customer service excellence, providing visitors with a stand-out experience.”
