Business advisory firm Deloitte has strengthened its senior team in the South West and Wales by promoting two new partners and nine directors.

The new partners are Duncan Down in the firm’s financial advisory practice and Gareth Pritchard in its tax practice.

Gareth, who joined Deloitte’s Cardiff office in 2005 and advises a wide range of clients across the region and nationally, will lead the 18-strong South West and Wales indirect tax team. Duncan will continue to lead the private equity transaction services practice.

Gareth said: “The South West and Wales region has a great deal to offer, both professionally and personally, and I’m very excited about this new role.

“Tax is a critical issue for any business, and I’m looking forward to helping our clients in the region find effective solutions to indirect tax issues, whether that is VAT, customs and excise duties or environmental taxes.”

Duncan, a law graduate from the University of Bristol, has been with Deloitte for nine years. He specialises in financial due diligence on behalf of acquirers and vendors and works with all types of clients in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia and the US, including corporates as well as privately owned businesses. He has a particular focus on private equity transactions on a national basis.

He said: “Advising on merger and acquisition (M&A) deals means I’m able to support a full spectrum of clients and help them to make the best informed investment decision when it relates to an acquisition or add real value to the sales process if it’s a disposal.

“The South West and Wales region continues to enjoy a strong and diverse M&A market and I am extremely proud to become a partner in our successful and rapidly expanding transaction services team.”

The nine promoted directors are from all business areas of the South West and Wales practice and include Dan Goodall (consulting), Simone Parkinson (tax); Tom Noble, Jason Parsons, Andrew Woodhead (all audit); Hugo Mansfield, Simon Oakes, Ruairi O’Dochartaigh and Greg Hill (all financial advisory).

A number of these directors have a particular focus towards Deloitte’s private markets business and advise some of the region’s fastest-growing and dynamic privately owned companies.

Deloitte South West and Wales practice senior partner Martyn Gregory said: “These promotions are well deserved and our new partners and directors are great assets to us and our clients.

“Our senior team continues to grow and the promotions represent a further step in investing in our people and our services, reflecting the continued success of the firm as well as demonstrating our confidence about the opportunities that lie ahead.”
