One of the top-rated inns in the Bath area has been put onto the market with a £95,000 price tag.
The Wheelwright Arms, pictured, in the village of Monkton Combe three miles south of Bath was described as the quintessential English village pub but with the added attraction of a large garden by property agents Colliers.
Built from traditional Bath stone as a house in the mid-18th century, it today has space to serve around 50 diners as well as a flexible outside dining space with scope for up to 120 covers.
It also has seven updated deluxe bedrooms – five double, one twin and one single – along with a large three-bedroom apartment suitable for owners or staff.
The Wheelwright Arms was bought by Canadians Richard and Sandra Bauly three years ago as their first venture into the hospitality industry.
According to Colliers, the couple have enjoyed running the inn but have decided to sell the leasehold as they have another business and elderly parents in Canada.
At the time they bought the inn they announced plans to invest in upgrading the letting rooms and creating an attractive al fresco dining experience in the gardens.
With a rating of 9.2/10 on booking.com, The Wheelwright Arms is one of the top-rated boutique properties in the Bath area.
Colliers said it had a strong reputation among visitors longing for the peace of the countryside and quiet walks but with easy access to central Bath.
Colliers hotels agency team associate director Ed Jefferson said: “The historic business is ideally suited for a chef patron and their family, partners or staff, and has significant potential to evolve further into a boutique and fine-dining destination.”
