West Country accountancy firm Old Mill achieved a record 14.2% growth in business last year, taking total income to £16.2m and enabling it to pay £600,000 in staff bonuses.
The firm, which employs 270 people across its offices in Melksham, Wells, Yeovil, Dorchester and Exeter, has grown turnover by at least 10% a year since 2007. 
Board member Simon Cole said this year's strong performance was due to a healthy mix of new clients and providing extra value-added work to existing clients.
“The latter was delivered, however, while remaining acutely aware of the need to offer clients value for money as they work hard to control their cost bases,” he said, adding that the performance was under-pinned by Old Mills’ unique integration of accountants, tax planners and financial planners.
“Our service offers expert help and advice in accountancy, tax planning and financial planning which combined allows us to provide our clients meaningful help to both meeting their business and personal aspirations,” he said.
Staff received on average around 10% of their salary. In addition to these bonuses, Old Mill’s strong performance will allow for continued investment in the business and in particular for further investment in staff training and development.

The firm now advises nearly 3,000 businesses across the West Country.
