The national economy may still be in the doldrums but a record 93 new companies were registered in Bath during March.
The figure smashes the previous best, pre-recession, months of September 2003 and March 2006 when 87 companies were registered, according to Companies House data.
Of March’s 93 new companies, 91 are regular limited companies, one is a Community Interest Company (CIC) and one a Right To Manage company.
Managing director of company formation agent Duport Associates, Peter Valaitis, said: “Bath is a wonderful city which is always popular with the tourists for its history and beauty.
“It’s nice to see that it is much more than just a pretty face. This is just the sort of business headline that the country needs to strengthen our economic recovery, and Bath can be proud of its achievements in March.”
Duport has been operating in the UK for around 15 years and registers around 10,000 new companies each year using its Companies House approved software.
