Private wealth lawyers in three of Bath’s top legal firms have been included in a prestigious annual guide in recognition of their commitment to their clients.
Chambers High Net Worth Guide, which is published every July, ranks the top performing lawyers in the field based on interviews with clients and the quality of work.
The independent guide offers market-leading rankings, reviews and insights to the world's leading professional advisers, covering private wealth management work and specialists across key jurisdictions.
The private wealth practice at Stone King has again been top ranked by the guide, while David Hill, a partner at Mogers Drewett, and Penelope Munro, who works in Thrings’ private client team in its Bath office are also included.
The coveted Band 1 ranking for Stone King’s team’s work also included continued recognition for three of the firm’s partners – Alison Allen, Dan Harris and Andrew Mortimer.
The trio are all named as notable practitioners in the guide, with Dan also recognised as a foreign expert for France.
Chambers says of Alison, pictured, who is both the firm’s chair and head of its private client sector:
“[Alison is] engaged in high-value wills and advising on complex estates, succession and tax planning.”
Dan Harris is “experienced in complex and often international estate planning and probates” as well as being a “leading cross-border estate expert."
The guide also praises Andrew Mortimer’s “particular experience in dealing with complex estates and trusts, including landed estates”.
Alison Allen said: “I am delighted that we have again received a top ranking. Stone King’s ethos is one of doing the right thing for our clients, for our communities, for our people and as a business and Chambers recognition helps us know we are achieving this.
“We are also grateful to our clients who continue to entrust us with their work and to the team of lawyers who are so pleased to support them.”
Stone King, which also has offices in Bristol, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds and London, specialises in business & social enterprise, charity, education, faith and private client law.
Mogers Drewett’s private client partner David Hill, pictured, has been recognised by the guide for the fifth year in a row.
Clients state he “shows great empathy for delicate and personal situations”, adding “he is very supportive, friendly, and will go the extra mile to explain complex issues in straightforward ways”.
David’s areas of expertise include estate and succession planning and professional advisers interviewed for the guide say: “From a personal observation David relates well to his clients and expresses himself to them in a comprehensive and fully understandable way, and that’s why we work alongside him”.
David said he was delighted that his clients were happy with the service they received.
“Developing long-term relationships with all our clients and professional partners is at the heart of what we do,” he added.
Thrings has been recognised for its work in private wealth law, with both the firm and partner Penelope Munro featuring in the rankings.
Penelope, pictured, has been included in the listings for the first time, ranking in Band 3, while the firm’s wider team ranked in Band 2.
With her expertise in private wealth and agriculture, Penelope regularly advises the farming community and landowners on succession, supporting families through intricate estate administration with clarity and sensitivity.
She also works with the personal representatives of estates, including businesses and farms, on tax matters and dealing with HMRC to secure claims for relief.
Thrings managing partner Simon Holdsworth said: “It is very pleasing to see another of our teams being ranked by Chambers and Partners, with Penelope rightfully recognised as a leader in the area of private wealth law.
“I am proud that the rankings continue to reflect the breadth and depth of the wide-ranging offering that Thrings provides, along with our ability to act as trusted advisers to private individuals, entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses.”
Thrings private client team head Fiona Kellow added: “Penelope has established a well-earned reputation through her work in private wealth and agriculture and it was only a matter of time before she was formally recognised in the rankings.
“Her work to support clients through what are complex and highly emotional times is outstanding and has played a major part in the wider team being recognised in the rankings this year.”
Thrings also has offices in Bristol, Swindon, London, Romsey, Ross-on-Wye and Lydney.
