Lawyers and staff from the Bath head office of regional law firm Royds Withy King have raised more than £23,000 for its charity of choice Dorothy House Hospice Care.
Fund-raising activities included two Bath Half Marathons, monthly dress down days, an auction of promises, raffles and a sponsored cycle ride from Bath to Paris.
The result was a total of £23,361 for Dorothy House, which provides palliative and end-of-life care to people living in Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire and Somerset.
Royds Withy King charities co-ordinator in Bath, associate solicitor Nicola Cutler, said: “We have had an incredibly rewarding two years raising funds for Dorothy House Hospice Care during a very special time for the charity as it celebrated its 40th anniversary.
“We have learnt so much about the amazing work that the charity does in our community for so many people and without the support of volunteers and fundraisers this could not be done. Our relationship with the fundraising team has been fantastic and their support for everything we have done has been invaluable.”
Dorothy House corporate fundraiser Henrietta Beard added: “We are immensely grateful for the support from the dynamic team at Royds Withy King.
“In the last two years, they have donated a truly impressive sum which will be a substantial help to the hospice and our patients. Everyone at Royds Withy King has been a delight to work with throughout our two-year collaboration.
“I think they must have the most enthusiastic and fittest staff in Bath after doing the Bath Half Marathon twice and cycling to Paris, to name just a few of their many sporting endeavours in aid of Dorothy House! We look forward to working together again in the future.”
While Dorothy House has not yet decided how the funds will be spent, they are substantial enough to be used, for example, to run the hospice’s hydrotherapy service for patients with a life-limiting condition for almost one and a half years.
Lawyers and staff from Royds Withy King’s office network – which also includes Swindon, Oxford and London – vote for local charities to benefit from their fundraising activities, volunteering and practical support every two years. In 2015-17 the firm raised a total of £67,705.53 for three charities including Dorothy House.
The Bath office has chosen Bath Mind, which works to improve the lives of people with mental health issues, as its charity for the next two years.
