The corporate finance team at regional accountancy firm Bishop Fleming, which has an office in Bath, has advised the shareholders of a fire safety specialist business on its sale to one of Europe’s largest fire-protection engineering companies.
The acquisition of Worcester-headquartered Compco Fire Systems adds £40m to Irish group Writech’s revenue and continues its expansion in the UK.
Founded in 1988, Compco is the UK’s leading privately-owned fire-protection engineering company offering a wide range of services. It has grown from one office to six offices across the UK employing more than 200 people.
Writech provides fire protection system design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, and services to clients which include some of the largest blue-chip companies in the world.
Compco’s shareholders brought in the corporate finance team of Bishop Fleming, led by Charles Davey and Phil Redgate, to manage the entire sale process.
Bishop Fleming corporate finance partner Charles Davey, pictured, said: “After running a full sale process which saw considerable interest, Writech was chosen as the obvious suitor for Compco as it will build on the legacy of Compco’s founders and maintain the client service focus that Compco is well known for.
“This is another great example of a cross border transaction completed by the team and builds on its success over the past two years.”
Compco commercial director Phil Lawley added: “The Board at Compco Fire Systems employed the services of Bishop Fleming to find a buyer for the business. The team led performed admirably in managing the process from inception to conclusion, and they have found a great new owner for the business.”
Bishop Fleming has seven offices across the South West and West Midlands employing more than 420 people offering services spanning corporate finance, personal tax, business recovery and insolvency to payroll services, VAT, audit assurance and accounting.
