Printer Park Lane Press has won its second Green Apple Award in recognition of its firm commitment to environmental standards.
The Corsham-based firm was presented with the award at a ceremony in the House of Commons.
The awards, which champion Britain’s greenest companies, councils and communities, are co-ordinated by The Green Organisation, an independent non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising and promoting environmental best practice.
Park Lane Press competed against more than 500 other nominations. The firm has been invited to have its winning paper published in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can follow their example and learn from their experience.
Park Lane Press will also be considered to represent the UK in the European Business Awards for the Environment.
Judges for the Green Apple Awards, which began in 1994, are drawn from the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies.
Park Lane managing director Phil Sudwell said: “This is our 13th year of operating an environmental management system. It has been one of our most proactive in terms of reducing our carbon footprint. We have implemented a unique water reclamation system, and installed a rainwater-harvesting tank, resulting in water usage dropping over 30%.
With the recent addition of a new energy-efficient climate control system and a new press, the firm hopes to achieve environmental improvements next year.
Park Lane Press has grown from a small trade printer in 1991 to a medium-sized commercial printer pioneering waterless litho and digital print, fulfilment and mailing.
It works directly with local and national charities, corporates and design agencies who appreciate its quality and sustainable production systems.
