Bath-based independent legal practice Whitworth Law has appointed highly experienced lawyer Samantha Taylor to lead its probate department.
Samantha, who has joined as a senior associate, is working alongside David Whitworth, who founded Whitworth Law in 2021, along with Jenny Davies, David’s executive PA.
Samantha, pictured, right, with David and Jenny, graduated from Cardiff University with a first-class honours degree and, before joining Whitworth Law, worked in the Bath office of law firm Stone King for just over four-and-a-half years, most recently as an associate.
Prior to that she was a private client lawyer at Bath law firm Mowbray Woodwards. At both firms she worked with David Whitworth.
She has also been a legal administrator in law firm Thrings’ Bath office and spent nearly three years as a senior probate case manager at estate administrators Kings Court Trust in Bath.
She completed her post-graduate diploma in law in October 2016, becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
At Queen Square-based Whitworth Law, which specialises in wills, probate, estate planning and trusts, she is leading its probate and estate administration department, dealing with a variety of estates, including high net worth and those of a more complex nature.
Samantha said: “One of the firm’s core values is to ensure all clients receive a truly personal, tailored service – something I believe in wholeheartedly.
“Dealing with an estate after a family member has passed away is an emotional period in someone’s life.
“Every estate is different and our clients may wish for us to take the lead, but equally they may want to take on some of the processes themselves.
“My aim is to take the stress out of the process at this difficult time. I want to ensure our clients are given the choice to deal with matters in a way which suits them, and to guide and support them every step of the way.”
David, a highly regarded private client specialist and former head of wills, trusts and probate at Mowbray Woodwards, is the only solicitor in Bath given a Band 1 ranking in Chambers High Net Worth Guide 2020 and 2021 for his work.
He said: “I am delighted to welcome Samantha to the team. Her excellent knowledge and wealth of experience in this area of law will ensure our clients are fully supported when dealing with complex and life-changing issues.
“In today’s world where corporates are prioritising automation and over personal service, here at Whitworth Law we like to be different.
“We are a small, friendly, highly experienced team who prioritise communication and approachability over all else.”
