Bath’s Apex Hotel is taking bookings ahead of reopening later this month with social distancing and other measures in place to safeguard guests.
The 177-bed, £50m hotel is one of four hotels in the 10-strong national Apex chain due to come out of lockdown on July 20.
Apex said the reopening date – around the start of schools’ summer holidays – was in time for ‘staycationers’ to make the most of summer in the UK.
It also said the family and interconnecting rooms in many of its hotels meant households could travel and be accommodated in their own ‘social bubbles’.
The family-owned hotel group also said it had sealed its commitment to guests by putting in place ‘Apex Assured’ – a pledge to give visitors complete peace of mind regarding cleanliness and safety, as well as ensuring flexibility on bookings and the best possible rates for those booking direct.
The measures will include staff wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) with screens at reception.
All staff have also been given additional training on enhanced hygiene practices while there will also be deep cleaning of bedrooms and increased cleaning of public areas.
Apex Hotels CEO Angela Vickers, pictured, said: “With lockdown restrictions easing, we are looking forward to welcoming guests who want to make the most of the remainder of the summer by taking much-needed staycations and becoming tourists in their own country.
“Following some challenging times for our industry, we are delighted to be getting back to what we do best and reopening our doors to guests who are eager to travel.
“All four hotels that are reopening offer ideal accommodation for those looking to take some time away in their own household bubbles, with comfort and safety in mind. Our family and interconnecting rooms are perfect for just that.”
She said guests would find the experience in its hotels a little different when they reopened.
“As well as offering comfort, style, and our signature warmer welcome, our Apex Assurance goes one step further to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our guests,” she said.
That commitment built on the company’s already exacting cleaning standards, she added, and included additional measures such as hand sanitiser stations and social distancing guidance.
“We will be paying particular attention to high-traffic areas and guest rooms. For example, as well as linen and towel changes, our teams will freshen all in-room amenities for new guests – from toiletries to tea and coffee to the addition of packs of antibacterial wipes.
“And we’ll keep rooms free of non-essential items but will still have these to hand on request. We’ll even be including welcome packs in each room for guests, with hand sanitiser and PPE.
“We also recognise that, particularly in the current circumstances, plans can change quickly, so we’re making a flexible booking rate available to allow free last-minute cancellations, and we continue to offer the best available rates to those booking direct via our website.
“It’s been a challenging few months for people across the UK, and we’re very pleased to be involved in getting people travelling again and enjoying everything that this wonderful country has to offer.”
The three other Apex hotels to reopen to guests on July 20 are Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa in Dundee, Apex Grassmarket Hotel in Edinburgh and Apex Temple Court Hotel in London.
