Health insurance broker Lesson Moore has expanded its expertise after spotting that some business owners and older clients were finding it hard to get cover for travel.
The Radstock-based firm, which launched in 2015 by directors Martin Blain and Simon Milner, has teamed up with specialist provider justtravelcover.com to offer affordable travel insurance to individuals who were either excluded from travel insurance because they had pre-existing medical conditions such as diabetes, cancer or epilepsy or because of their age.
Martin Blain, pictured, said: “We found that business owners were not aware that they could take annual travel cover when existing health conditions were making it either impossible or very expensive. 
“With certain business travel insurance plans, the underwriting is on ‘fit-to-travel’ basis so they can use their status to find a policy to cover both business and leisure.”
Among businesses benefiting from the new service is Bradley Stoke, Bristol, based mobile telecoms roaming and security specialist Evolved Intelligence, which regularly sends staff on trips around the world and was buying business travel cover as and when required.
CEO Paul Gill found that an annual business package made more sense and he has been able to add leisure insurance, including winter sports, as a perk for staff.
“I have up to 10 staff who travel to places such as Mexico, Middle East and the USA throughout the year,” he said.
“When Lesson Moore suggested an annual policy it made perfect sense and the process was quick and easy, as we’ve not had to fill complicated medical forms. Anyone can travel as long as they’ve not been told they can’t by a doctor.
“We’ve particularly benefitted as one of our team did not have to declare treatment for a serious condition just a year ago, and another member of staff took their whole family on a ski trip with the leisure option we included as a perk.”
