Water2business, the specialist retailer co-owned by Bath-based Wessex Water, has appointed Andy Coates as its new managing director.
Andy, pictured, will replace Charley Maher at the helm of the business, following her departure from the group.
Andy, who was previously Water2business’s chief operating officer, has six years’ experience in the water retail industry.
He also has wider experience in leading people, finance and customer service.
Water2business, which has 82,000 customers across the UK, said he had helped to shape the firm into the leading retailer that it is today.
Co-owned with Bristol Water, it was set up in 2016 to supply the two utilities’ business customers with specialist services such as water efficiency audits, environmental performance, trade effluent services, expert account management, billing options, smart metering, benchmarking and expert advice on water supply and management.
Since the water retail market opened in 2017, Water2business has achieved substantial commercial growth, winning national contracts with customers across multiple sectors and delivering savings for them with tailored water and wastewater management plans.
It has also been praised for its customer service and this year maintained the No 1-rated position on Trustpilot across the sector, a market compliance record performance of 97.2% and the lowest number of customer complaints of any large water retailer in the industry.
Water2business chairman said: “I am pleased to congratulate Andy on his new appointment.
“He brings a wealth of leadership and business experience, as well as continuity to the role, and the board have confidence in his ability to ensure Water2business continues to deliver for customers and achieve its future growth ambitions.”
Andy Coates added: “I am incredibly proud of what the entire team has achieved in the last six years, I’m looking forward to continuing to deliver excellent service for our customers and clients and a great place to work for our people, whilst growing our market share.”
Nailsea-based Water2business customers include manufacturer Pirelli Tyres, Japanese restaurant chain itsu, UK-wide café chain Coffee#1 and health care Advinia.
