Bath-based healthtech specialist Mayden has moved its head office to Oldfield Park – giving a shot in the arm to the area’s emerging reputation as a business location.
The firm, which relocated from Widcombe, has agreed a freehold lease on The Old Dairy, a 10,000 sq ft Victorian red brick building on Melcombe Road.
The building, which was marketed by national property agency Carter Jonas’ Bath office, has views towards The Royal Crescent and boasts high-quality, open-plan office accommodation over three floors. It is also close to Oldfield Park railway station.
Mayden, which provides cloud-based systems for healthcare services in the UK and abroad, has relocated its 60-plus staff to the building.
Carter Jonas Bath office head Phillip Marshall said: “This is a significant letting for the Oldfield Park area of the city and reinforces the desirability of this popular location.
“What’s more, we are proud to have signed a Bath-based business in premises that will serve as their headquarters as they continue to thrive and grow.”
Oldfield Park is already home to a wide range of businesses including fast-growing sex toy retailer Lovehoney. Work to transform the area’s former Herman Miller office furniture factory and head office into a new art and design campus for Bath Spa University will finish next year and is expected to be a further boost, potentially attracting more creative industry firms to the area.
Last month Carter Jonas said the pressure on high-quality office space in Bath was easing following a number of new instructions on the market, including the Grade II listed 10,000 sq ft former headquarters of Bath book publisher Parragon on Trim Street.
Prime office space in Bath has been in such short supply in recent years that a number of expanding businesses have moved to Bristol while the high-quality refurbished 20 Manvers Street office building became fully occupied almost immediately it was available.
