Each week Bath Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on our weekly e-bulletin.

This week: Adam Carwardine, managing director of Colour Studios, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? Spotlight. The film follows The Boston Globe’s Spotlight team, the oldest continuously operating newspaper investigative unit in the US. All the actors were great in the movie, but I enjoyed seeing Mark Ruffalo in a serious acting role, he did really well.

Book you read? The Girl on the Train (2015) is a pyschological thriller novel by British author Paula Hawkins. The book starts quite slowly, building a picture of the characters and builds to a very exciting climax. I could not put it down for the last few chapters.

Music you bought or downloaded? Adele 25. An amazing update to her original 21. I have been playing it in the car going home and have even started singing along!

Concert or play you went to? Red Velvet by Lolita Chakrabarti at the Garrick Theatre, London, about the 19th century actor Ira Aldridge and his role as Othello. The subject matter was quite painful at times about the issues experienced by a black actor in 1830s London but presented in a very engaging and entertaining way. I would recommend it for an entertaining but not very relaxing evening.

Sporting event you attended? Bath Rugby vs Worcester at home on Dec 27. (We won).

Holiday you went on? The Antarctic. My brother Mark Carwardine runs tours all over the world and invited us to join him on a tour to The Antarctic from Argentina via South Georgia last November. An amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Restaurant you ate in? Hall & Woodhouse. An ideal location when out with our dog as they are welcome to join you on the ground floor while you have your meal. Kaya was also treated well with complementary drinks and biscuits.

Thing that annoyed you? Dealing with BT. You would have thought getting our home office upgraded to fibre broadband would be simple….Oh my goodness, BT are the worst supplier we deal with. They have wasted so much of my time through missed appointments and a whole range of poor communications. As part of the process, BT sent out a new router for the upgrade. We have received six so far, three to our house, two to the office and one to a neighbour. I have followed their formal complaint procedure and written a letter…….I’m still waiting BT?

Thing that made you laugh out loud? My daughter is currently working and living in Finland. Her apartment has a dishwasher, but recently no washing tablets. The photograph she sent to us of what happens when you try washing-up liquid in a dishwasher was brilliant!

Piece of good advice you were given? ‘Hope for the best, but plan for the worst’. This works well for most business-related things from our printing production schedules through to cashflow forecasting.

Born in 1960, Adam has been managing director of Radstock-based exhibitions and display graphics firm Colour Studios for 17 years and has long-term links with Bath back to his grandfather George Carwardine, who lived in Entry Hill House and invented the Anglepoise lamp in 1932.
