Each week Bath Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin.

This week Angela MacAusland, FSB Bath branch chairwoman and owner of AM PM PA, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? Men in Black 3 – a real Sunday afternoon, autumnal treat. With a bottle of wine and my husband.

Book you read? I’m reading a variety of non-fiction books at the moment; the last one I read was Raving Fans by Kenneth Blanchard (of the One Minute Manager fame) and Sheldon Bowles.

Music you bought or downloaded? Sam Smith Writings on the Wall – the new Bond theme tune. It’s classic Bond mixed with Sam’s contemporary tone.

Concert or play you went to? We went to see Spamalot in Bath earlier this year. It’s not something I do much of, but I do like the Theatre Royal, it’s like going back in time to a different era.

Sporting event you attended? The Bristol and Bath Marathon – I ran in it, it was a fantastic event and I loved every minute of it. It was so good running back to Bath and seeing the familiar faces of my running friends who were marshalling the event.

Holiday you went on? This summer my husband and I visited the Temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia and we also stopped off in Bangkok for a few days and then we went on to Koh Samui in Thailand. It was our 10th wedding anniversary so we wanted to do something memorable – it was.

Restaurant you ate in? Graze in Bath. I had salt and pepper squid and beetroot tart. Very tasty indeed.

Thing that annoyed you? Bad customer service from my bank. I couldn’t get through on the phone and ended up going into the branch – only to end up not having my issue resolved and then getting more annoyed. In fact, I am still cross now, a week later. Bad customer service is not an excuse.

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Lots of things make me laugh, but the most memorable time recently was a train journey back from London to Bath with a few business colleagues. It had been a very long day and we had a few glasses of wine on the train. After about half an hour all three of us were giggling like schoolgirls. That will go down as the most fun train journey ever.

Piece of good advice you were given? “There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called Yesterday and the other is called Tomorrow. Today is the right day to Love, Believe, Do and mostly Live,” the Dalai Lama.

Bath-born Angela MacAusland has been running her Virtual PA business for the past eight years and chairwoman of the Federation of Small Businesses for the past two years. A keen long distance runner (Bath Half number five in 2016) and avid baker, Angela loves organising people, events, and anything that needs a bit of order.
